Nova Azul, also known as Azul Nuevo, is a prestigious limestone quarried from the historically rich geological formations of Portugal. Despite its name suggesting a vibrant blue, this stone is celebrated for its sophisticated, luminous white to pale off-white background, often accented by subtle, atmospheric grey-blue undertones and delicate mineral mottling. Its dense, sedimentary structure provides excellent durability and natural slip resistance, making it a premier choice for high-end flooring, wall cladding, and pool copings. Interestingly, while the "Azul" varieties of Portuguese limestone are highly coveted for their cool-toned elegance, they are geologically rarer than their beige counterparts, often found in smaller, unpredictable pockets within the same quarries.
