Marble
Pentelikon White
Pentelikon White, also known as Dionysos White or Pentelic marble, is a legendary Greek stone quarried from Mount Pentelicus near Athens. Celebrated for its fine grain and luminous, bone-white to creamy palette, it often features subtle golden undertones and wispy greenish-grey veining. This marble is geologically unique for its high calcite purity and remarkable translucency, which gives it an ethereal "inner glow" under natural light. Historically, it is the most significant architectural stone of antiquity; the Parthenon and the Propylaea were constructed from its blocks. Interestingly, while it appears pure white when freshly cut, its trace iron content can develop a delicate, warm patina over centuries.
