Pietra Del Cardozo, also known as Cardoso Stone, is a prestigious gray quartzite quarried from the Apuan Alps in Tuscany, Italy. Characterized by its deep charcoal to bluish-gray tones and delicate white veining, this metamorphic rock is prized for its exceptional compactness and resistance to wear, heat, and atmospheric agents. While often compared to soapstone due to its aesthetic and development of a unique patina over time, it offers the superior durability and hardness typical of a high-end quartzite. Interestingly, despite its rugged performance in high-traffic areas, it originates from the same mountain range that famously yielded the marble for Michelangelo’s masterpieces.
