Basalt

Basalt is an igneous rock formed from rapidly cooling lava. It is typically dark gray to black due to its mineral composition, especially augite and other dark pyroxenes. Plagioclase and calcium can lighten it to shades of gray, iron can cause it to weather into brown or rust-red, and carnelian can fill its gas bubbles. With a fine-grained texture and dull luster, basalt is durable and workable, making it ideal for commercial use.

The simplicity of color makes basalt stone tiles popular in modern architecture. The basalt grey tints can be matched with virtually any color without disrupting the composition. Their rich body is a result of their volcanic origins.
