Semi-Precious
Beigered Petrified Wood
Beigered Petrified Wood is a magnificent semi-precious stone formed through the permineralization of ancient trees over millions of years. As organic material is replaced by silica-rich minerals like quartz and chalcedony, the original cellular structure, rings, and bark textures are immortalized in stone. This specific variety features a warm, earthy palette of creamy beige and subtle red iron-oxide streaks. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this fossilized material is exceptionally durable, ranking 7 on the Mohs scale. Interestingly, the precise spacing of fractures in many logs often gives the uncanny appearance of being neatly cut by a modern chainsaw, a result of geological stress during the uplifting of the Colorado Plateau.
