Smi Rijo is a 2 cm beige with cream limestone, offered in a honed finish. This lot runs from 103″ × 66″ to 104″ × 66″, with 18 slabs available at our Los Angeles yard.

This slab

The recorded size of a slab in this lot is 104″ × 66″, about 48 square feet. Sizes across the lot run from 103″ × 66″ to 104″ × 66″. Thickness is 2 cm. The color on record is beige with cream. Natural stone still varies inside that description, so the slab itself is the reference for movement and shade.

The honed finish is smooth and matte, without a high gloss. Two centimeters is a standard slab thickness for counters, vanities, and wall cladding.

Where it works

For this kind of stone, the usual applications are floors, wall cladding, and vanities. The right use still depends on the finish, the thickness, and how the slab will be cared for after it is installed.

The material

Limestone is a sedimentary stone, usually calmer in pattern than marble, with a soft mineral color. It is more porous than granite and is a frequent choice for floors, cladding, and vanities. Honed and brushed finishes suit its matte character. Acidic products can etch it, and a sealer is often part of the care plan. Slabs from the same lot are the right set to compare for shade before they are cut.

About Smi Rijo

Smi Rijo is a prestigious limestone primarily quarried in the Estremadura region of Portugal, particularly near Porto de Mos. Characterized by its luminous ivory-white to light beige palette, this fine-grained stone features a remarkably uniform background punctuated by delicate fossils and small, darker calcitic spots. Renowned for its soft, workable nature, it is a global standard for intricate stonework, masonry, and classical cladding. While it offers a timeless aesthetic similar to Moca Cream, Smi Rijo is prized for its higher availability and consistency. Interestingly, its compact structure remains naturally cool to the touch, making it a preferred choice for flooring in warmer Mediterranean climates.
