Venus/Taj Mahal is an elite quartzite primarily quarried in the Ceara region of Brazil. Distinguished by its soft, creamy ivory background and delicate wisps of gold and taupe veining, it offers the sophisticated aesthetic of high-end marble with the superior performance of granite. This metamorphic stone ranks approximately 7 on the Mohs scale, making it exceptionally resistant to scratches, heat, and acidic etching. Its neutral warmth and subtle translucency make it a designer favorite for waterfall islands and seamless backsplashes. Interestingly, while its name pays homage to the iconic white marble monument in India, this Brazilian powerhouse is geologically much denser and more durable than true marble.
This lot is a new arrival at our Sun Valley yard.
Lot MS103956 is a 4-slab run of 3 cm Venus/Taj Mahal quartzite, from Brazil, in a honed finish. The slabs measure about 130″ × 76″, with one slab available and 3 on hold at our Sun Valley yard.
This slab
The recorded size of a slab in this lot is 130″ × 76″, about 69 square feet. Thickness is 3 cm. The color on record is cream with semi-white, ivory, white, beige, and grey. Natural stone still varies inside that description, so the slab itself is the reference for movement and shade. This material is recorded as quarried in Brazil.
The honed finish is smooth and matte, without a high gloss. Three centimeters is a thicker cut, often used where the edge will show.
In the yard
Lot MS103956 at our Sun Valley yard shows 4 slabs in stock, 3 slabs on hold, and one slab available. Available means in stock minus slabs on hold.
With one slab available, it suits a project that can be cut from a single piece.
Where it works
For this kind of stone, the usual applications are kitchen countertops, islands, and vanities. The right use still depends on the finish, the thickness, and how the slab will be cared for after it is installed. Inspiration photos show this stone in a Bathroom and a Kitchen.
The material
Quartzite begins as sandstone and is metamorphosed into a hard, quartz-rich stone. It is chosen for kitchens and islands when a project wants marble-like movement with more scratch and heat resistance than marble. Density and absorbency still vary by quarry, so sealing should be confirmed on the slab in front of you, not assumed from the name. Movement can change across one lot, which is why the pieces are best compared side by side in daylight.
