Tiger Eye Blue

TIGER EYE

Slim rectangles of blue tiger's eye, laid in staggered rows like brickwork, make up Tiger Eye Blue. Midnight navy and steel blue dominate, crossed by streaks of copper and gold, and the stone's fibrous structure gives a silky sheen that shifts with the light. A Blue Gold Small version of this semi-precious slab mixes blue and golden-brown pieces at random angles.

About Tiger Eye Blue

Blue tiger's eye, also called hawk's eye, is a fibrous quartz stone with chatoyancy: a band of light that seems to slide across the surface as the viewer moves. Here it is cut into slim rectangles and set by hand in offset rows, so the banding runs mostly horizontal and the slab has a strong linear rhythm. Navy and blue-black lead, with gold and rust flashes along the fibers.

In the Blue Gold Small option, smaller pieces point in many directions, producing a speckled, more energetic mix of blue and honey brown. The slab is built to custom sizes up to 320 x 190 cm, normally 2 cm thick, with 0.6 to 4 cm also possible. The stone is opaque and looks its best under directional front light that catches the sheen, as on a bar front, an accent wall, a desk or a furniture panel. Gentle, non-abrasive cleaning protects the surface.
