About Bianco Carrara

Bianco Carrara is the quintessential Italian marble, quarried from the Apuan Alps in Tuscany. Renowned for its soft white to light gray background and delicate, smoky gray veining, it has served as a cornerstone of art and architecture for over two thousand years. This metamorphic stone is celebrated for its fine grain and durability, making it a versatile choice for luxury countertops, flooring, and intricate mosaics. Notably, these quarries provided the raw material for Michelangelo’s David and the Pantheon. Interestingly, the mountains of Carrara are so white they are often mistaken for being snow-capped from a distance.

Lot 146305 is one slab of 2 cm Bianco Carrara marble, from Italy, in a polished and honed finish. The slab measures about 118″ × 70″, with one slab available at our Los Angeles yard.

This slab

The recorded size of a slab in this lot is 118″ × 70″, about 57 square feet. Thickness is 2 cm. The color on record is white with semi-white. Natural stone still varies inside that description, so the slab itself is the reference for movement and shade. This material is recorded as quarried in Italy.

The honed finish is smooth and matte, without a high gloss. Two centimeters is a standard slab thickness for counters, vanities, and wall cladding.

In the yard

Lot 146305 at our Los Angeles yard shows one slab in stock, none on hold, and one slab available. Available means in stock minus slabs on hold.

With one slab available, it suits a project that can be cut from a single piece.

Where it works

For this kind of stone, the usual applications are bathrooms, vanities, fireplace surrounds, and feature walls. The right use still depends on the finish, the thickness, and how the slab will be cared for after it is installed. Inspiration photos show this stone in a Bathroom and a Kitchen.

The material

Marble is a metamorphic stone, recrystallized from limestone, and it is valued for veining and a luminous surface. It is softer and more sensitive to acids than granite or quartzite, so wine, citrus, and strong cleaners can etch a polish. That is why it is a classic for bathrooms, vanities, fireplaces, and walls, and for kitchens when the owner wants the look and will live with a natural patina. A honed face shows etching less than a high polish. Vein direction should be planned on the actual slabs before fabrication.
