Calacatta Classico is a premier Italian marble quarried from the Apuan Alps in the Carrara region of Tuscany. This luxurious natural stone is defined by its warm, pure white background and a sophisticated network of medium to thick gray veining, occasionally accented by subtle gold or taupe highlights. Renowned for its dramatic, unstructured patterns, it offers a bolder aesthetic than the more common Carrara varieties. Historically, these Tuscan quarries have been prized since the Roman era, providing material for iconic sculptures and cathedrals. Today, Calacatta Classico remains a global symbol of opulence, favored for high-end interior applications like bookmatched feature walls and elegant countertops.
On hand at our Los Angeles yard: one slab of Calacatta Classico, a 2 cm white with semi-white, ivory, and grey marble in a polished and honed finish. Lot GR 16736 measures about 127″ × 77″.
This slab
The recorded size of a slab in this lot is 127″ × 77″, about 68 square feet. Thickness is 2 cm. The color on record is white with semi-white, ivory, and grey. Natural stone still varies inside that description, so the slab itself is the reference for movement and shade.
The honed finish is smooth and matte, without a high gloss. Two centimeters is a standard slab thickness for counters, vanities, and wall cladding.

Where it works
For this kind of stone, the usual applications are bathrooms, vanities, fireplace surrounds, and feature walls. The right use still depends on the finish, the thickness, and how the slab will be cared for after it is installed. Inspiration photos show this stone in a Kitchen and a Bathroom.
The material
Marble is a metamorphic stone, recrystallized from limestone, and it is valued for veining and a luminous surface. It is softer and more sensitive to acids than granite or quartzite, so wine, citrus, and strong cleaners can etch a polish. That is why it is a classic for bathrooms, vanities, fireplaces, and walls, and for kitchens when the owner wants the look and will live with a natural patina. A honed face shows etching less than a high polish. Vein direction should be planned on the actual slabs before fabrication.
