Calacatta Macchia Vecchia is a rare and prestigious marble extracted from the historic Carrara quarries in Tuscany, Italy. It is distinguished by a luminous white background interlaced with dramatic, bold veining in sophisticated shades of dark grey, charcoal, and warm gold. This striking contrast creates an organic, sweeping pattern that makes each slab a unique work of art.
Valued for its durability and heat resistance, this marble is a preferred choice for high-end countertops, flooring, and book-matched feature walls. Interestingly, the name Macchia Vecchia translates to old stain, referring to the characteristic concentrated patches of color that give the stone its storied, antique appearance. Consistent with its Italian heritage, it seamlessly bridges the gap between classical opulence and modern luxury.
This is a new arrival of Calacatta Macchia Vecchia at our Los Angeles yard.
On hand at our Los Angeles yard: 7 available slabs of Calacatta Macchia Vecchia, a 2 cm white with black, grey, and gold marble from Italy in a honed finish. Lot 14202 measures about 120″ × 70″, with one slab on hold.
This slab
The recorded size of a slab in this lot is 120″ × 70″, about 58 square feet. Thickness is 2 cm. The color on record is white with black, grey, and gold. Natural stone still varies inside that description, so the slab itself is the reference for movement and shade. This material is recorded as quarried in Italy.
The honed finish is smooth and matte, without a high gloss. Two centimeters is a standard slab thickness for counters, vanities, and wall cladding.

Where it works
For this kind of stone, the usual applications are bathrooms, vanities, fireplace surrounds, and feature walls. The right use still depends on the finish, the thickness, and how the slab will be cared for after it is installed. Inspiration photos show this stone in a Calacatta Macchia Vecchia.
The material
Marble is a metamorphic stone, recrystallized from limestone, and it is valued for veining and a luminous surface. It is softer and more sensitive to acids than granite or quartzite, so wine, citrus, and strong cleaners can etch a polish. That is why it is a classic for bathrooms, vanities, fireplaces, and walls, and for kitchens when the owner wants the look and will live with a natural patina. A honed face shows etching less than a high polish. Vein direction should be planned on the actual slabs before fabrication.
