This honed limestone is Gascogne Beige, cut at 2 cm and quarried in Portugal. Lot GB0103001 measures about 124″ × 63″, with 8 slabs available and 3 on hold at our Los Angeles yard.

This slab

The recorded size of a slab in this lot is 124″ × 63″, about 54 square feet. Thickness is 2 cm. The color on record is beige. Natural stone still varies inside that description, so the slab itself is the reference for movement and shade. This material is recorded as quarried in Portugal.

The honed finish is smooth and matte, without a high gloss. Two centimeters is a standard slab thickness for counters, vanities, and wall cladding.

Where it works

For this kind of stone, the usual applications are floors, wall cladding, and vanities. The right use still depends on the finish, the thickness, and how the slab will be cared for after it is installed. Inspiration photos show this stone in a Floor.

The material

Limestone is a sedimentary stone, usually calmer in pattern than marble, with a soft mineral color. It is more porous than granite and is a frequent choice for floors, cladding, and vanities. Honed and brushed finishes suit its matte character. Acidic products can etch it, and a sealer is often part of the care plan. Slabs from the same lot are the right set to compare for shade before they are cut.

About Gascogne Beige

Gascogne Beige is a distinguished limestone from the heart of Portugal, primarily quarried in the Leiria district. Known for its warm, creamy beige background and fine-grained texture, it is often celebrated for its subtle variations and the delicate appearance of marine fossils and tiny shells scattered throughout. This stone, also widely known as Moleanos Beige or Fonjone, offers a sophisticated and inviting aesthetic that bridges the gap between classic and contemporary design.

Beyond its beauty, Gascogne Beige is remarkably durable for a limestone, possessing high mechanical strength that makes it suitable for high-traffic flooring, exterior cladding, and even landscaping in demanding climates. Interestingly, while its soft appearance might suggest a delicate nature, its compact structure is so resilient that it was used in the construction of historic European landmarks. This blend of natural history and structural integrity makes it a premier choice for both residential luxury and commercial architectural projects.
