Marble
Grand Antique
Grand Antique is a prestigious and visually arresting marble quarried in the Aubert-Moulis region of the French Pyrenees. Characterized by a deep black limestone background fractured by bold, angular white calcite veining, it creates a high-contrast, graphic composition that resembles a natural mosaic. This stone’s history is as dramatic as its appearance; it was highly prized by the Romans and later used to decorate iconic landmarks like the Hagia Sophia and St. Peter’s Basilica. Interestingly, the quarry was closed for nearly 70 years and its location was practically forgotten until it was rediscovered and reopened in 2012.
