Grigio Carnico is a sophisticated Italian marble quarried from the Carnic Alps in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. This charcoal-to-deep-grey stone is distinguished by its intense, irregular white and light grey veining, which creates a dramatic, high-contrast appearance. Its dense structure and remarkable resistance to low temperatures make it a rare marble suitable for both elegant interior applications and exterior cladding. Historically, the stone's dark pigmentation is due to organic remains preserved as bitumen during its formation 370 million years ago. Its bold, masculine aesthetic makes it a favorite for book-matched feature walls and luxury flooring.
Grigio Carnico is a new arrival, now on hand at our Los Angeles yard.
Slabs of Grigio Carnico in lot 1586 run from 122″ × 75″ to 125″ × 75″. This is 2 cm white, silver, and black marble with a honed finish, and 12 slabs are available and 2 are on hold at our Los Angeles yard.
This slab
The recorded size of a slab in this lot is 125″ × 75″, about 65 square feet. Sizes across the lot run from 122″ × 75″ to 125″ × 75″. Thickness is 2 cm. The color on record is white, silver, and black. Natural stone still varies inside that description, so the slab itself is the reference for movement and shade.
The honed finish is smooth and matte, without a high gloss. Two centimeters is a standard slab thickness for counters, vanities, and wall cladding.

Where it works
For this kind of stone, the usual applications are bathrooms, vanities, fireplace surrounds, and feature walls. The right use still depends on the finish, the thickness, and how the slab will be cared for after it is installed. Inspiration photos show this stone in a Kitchen.
The material
Marble is a metamorphic stone, recrystallized from limestone, and it is valued for veining and a luminous surface. It is softer and more sensitive to acids than granite or quartzite, so wine, citrus, and strong cleaners can etch a polish. That is why it is a classic for bathrooms, vanities, fireplaces, and walls, and for kitchens when the owner wants the look and will live with a natural patina. A honed face shows etching less than a high polish. Vein direction should be planned on the actual slabs before fabrication.
