Olympian White Danby is a premium marble quarried from the Dorset Mountain in Vermont, home to the worlds largest underground quarry. This American classic features a luminous, snowy white background accented by soft, diagonal gray veining that ranges from light to medium intensity. Renowned for its remarkable density, it possesses an exceptionally low absorption rate of approximately 0.08%, making it significantly more resistant to staining than many European counterparts like Carrara. Its durability and timeless elegance have made it a preferred choice for iconic landmarks, including the U.S. Supreme Court and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Whether applied to kitchen countertops or interior flooring, it offers a sophisticated, clean aesthetic that only grows more beautiful with age.
Lot 31008 is one slab of 2 cm Olympian White Danby marble, from the United States, in a honed finish. The slab measures about 120″ × 67″, with one slab available at our Los Angeles yard.
This slab
The recorded size of a slab in this lot is 120″ × 67″, about 56 square feet. Thickness is 2 cm. The color on record is white. Natural stone still varies inside that description, so the slab itself is the reference for movement and shade. This material is recorded as quarried in the United States.
The honed finish is smooth and matte, without a high gloss. Two centimeters is a standard slab thickness for counters, vanities, and wall cladding.
In the yard
Lot 31008 at our Los Angeles yard shows one slab in stock, none on hold, and one slab available. Available means in stock minus slabs on hold.
With one slab available, it suits a project that can be cut from a single piece.
Where it works
For this kind of stone, the usual applications are bathrooms, vanities, fireplace surrounds, and feature walls. The right use still depends on the finish, the thickness, and how the slab will be cared for after it is installed. Inspiration photos show this stone in a Transitional Kitchen.
The material
Marble is a metamorphic stone, recrystallized from limestone, and it is valued for veining and a luminous surface. It is softer and more sensitive to acids than granite or quartzite, so wine, citrus, and strong cleaners can etch a polish. That is why it is a classic for bathrooms, vanities, fireplaces, and walls, and for kitchens when the owner wants the look and will live with a natural patina. A honed face shows etching less than a high polish. Vein direction should be planned on the actual slabs before fabrication.
