Pietra Artica, also widely known as Tundra Grey, is a sophisticated Italian marble celebrated for its cool, heather-grey palette. This natural stone is defined by an intricate web of fine intersecting white veins and subtle monochromatic mottling, creating a cloud-like aesthetic that conveys depth without being overpowering. Sourced from premier quarries, it offers a versatile and timeless alternative to traditional white marbles, making it a favorite for luxury countertops, flooring, and wall cladding. Its dense structure allows for a high-polish finish that beautifully reflects light. Interestingly, its neutral tones and "m misty" appearance allow it to pair seamlessly with both modern minimalist and classic traditional designs.
Pietra Artica, also known as Tundra Gray — 2 cm semi-white and silver marble, honed, about 106″ × 71″ per slab. Lot DU3B01, from Italy, is currently on hold at our Los Angeles yard.
This slab
The recorded size of a slab in this lot is 106″ × 71″, about 52 square feet. Thickness is 2 cm. The color on record is semi-white and silver. Natural stone still varies inside that description, so the slab itself is the reference for movement and shade. Pietra Artica is also known as Tundra Gray. Searching either name should lead to this same material. This material is recorded as quarried in Italy.
The honed finish is smooth and matte, without a high gloss. Two centimeters is a standard slab thickness for counters, vanities, and wall cladding.

Where it works
For this kind of stone, the usual applications are bathrooms, vanities, fireplace surrounds, and feature walls. The right use still depends on the finish, the thickness, and how the slab will be cared for after it is installed. Inspiration photos show this stone in a Transitional Kitchen.
The material
Marble is a metamorphic stone, recrystallized from limestone, and it is valued for veining and a luminous surface. It is softer and more sensitive to acids than granite or quartzite, so wine, citrus, and strong cleaners can etch a polish. That is why it is a classic for bathrooms, vanities, fireplaces, and walls, and for kitchens when the owner wants the look and will live with a natural patina. A honed face shows etching less than a high polish. Vein direction should be planned on the actual slabs before fabrication.
