Travertine
Roman Travertine/Vein Cut
Roman Travertine, specifically the vein-cut variety, is a legendary Italian limestone quarried primarily in Tivoli, near Rome. This selection is defined by its creamy beige palette and distinct, parallel linear banding created by cutting against the stone's natural sedimentary layers. Renowned for its remarkable density and strength, it is geologically more compact than travertines found elsewhere. This enduring material has defined architectural history, serving as the primary medium for the Roman Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. Interestingly, while it is naturally porous, its superior thermal conductivity makes it an exceptional choice for modern radiant flooring systems.
