On hold at our Los Angeles yard: Saratoga, also known as Infinity Diamond Black Negresco, a 2 cm black quartzite from Brazil in a honed finish. Lot 9275 measures about 129″ × 78″.

This slab

The recorded size of a slab in this lot is 129″ × 78″, about 70 square feet. Thickness is 2 cm. The color on record is black. Natural stone still varies inside that description, so the slab itself is the reference for movement and shade. Saratoga is also known as Infinity Diamond Black Negresco. Searching either name should lead to this same material. This material is recorded as quarried in Brazil.

The honed finish is smooth and matte, without a high gloss. Two centimeters is a standard slab thickness for counters, vanities, and wall cladding.

Where it works

For this kind of stone, the usual applications are kitchen countertops, islands, and vanities. The right use still depends on the finish, the thickness, and how the slab will be cared for after it is installed. Inspiration photos show this stone in a Transitional Kitchen.

The material

Quartzite begins as sandstone and is metamorphosed into a hard, quartz-rich stone. It is chosen for kitchens and islands when a project wants marble-like movement with more scratch and heat resistance than marble. Density and absorbency still vary by quarry, so sealing should be confirmed on the slab in front of you, not assumed from the name. Movement can change across one lot, which is why the pieces are best compared side by side in daylight.

About Saratoga

Saratoga is a high-performance black quartzite sourced from the premier quarries of Brazil. Often referred to by alternate names like Infinity Diamond Black or Negresco, this natural stone is defined by its deep, inky midnight background and elegant, high-contrast white veining that strikes across the surface like lightning. As a metamorphic rock, Saratoga offers the sophisticated aesthetic of dark marble with the superior hardness and heat resistance of granite, making it an ideal choice for high-traffic kitchen countertops and outdoor living spaces. Interestingly, its dense composition allows it to take a beautiful leathered finish, which enhances its textured, "misty" visual depth.
