Brick-red and rust tones surround the dark brown cross sections in this petrified wood slab, and pale star-shaped cracks radiate from the center of many logs. In the Jurassic version the fossil wood is cut along the grain into small rectangles, forming a striped patchwork of red, cream, ochre and gray.

About Petrified Wood Red

Iron oxides are generally behind the red coloring of fossil wood, which formed as minerals replaced the original timber cell by cell. The cut pieces are arranged by hand: the Classic layout reads warm and earthy, with each round showing its growth rings, while Jurassic gives a more graphic, linear effect. This stone can also be ordered with ammonites set into the surface.

Red petrified wood brings strong color to restaurant and bar counters, reception desks, fireplace surrounds and statement furniture, and looks right beside blackened steel or plaster in muted tones. The material is supplied in custom sizes reaching 320 x 190 cm and in a standard 2 cm thickness, which can be varied between 0.6 and 4 cm. As with other resin-bonded stone, spills should be wiped promptly and cleaned with a neutral product.
