Quartz Crystal

Rock crystal is the colorless, transparent form of quartz. In this slab, shards of it are fitted together by hand; the clearer pieces show depth beneath the surface as soft gray shadows, while cloudier ones appear frosted white. Long, needle-like streaks give the composition a sense of direction, a little like frost on a window.

The gold variant uses rounder pieces with gold-toned lines between them, a look suited to more decorative interiors. Its thickness can be specified anywhere from 0.6 to 4 cm, with 2 cm as standard, and sizes are made to measure up to 320 x 190 cm. How this stone behaves when backlit is unconfirmed, so lighting plans are worth checking before fabrication. It works for vanity tops, accent walls, coffee tables and reception counters. Light cleaning with a neutral, non-abrasive product is all the surface requires.
