Calacatta Cielo is a sophisticated Chinese marble that offers a luxurious alternative to classic Italian varieties. Characterized by a luminous white crystalline background, it is defined by a dramatic interplay of sweeping grey, charcoal, and occasional golden-beige veins. This high-contrast movement often mimics the fluid appearance of water waves or a shifting sky, lending the stone its name, which translates to "sky" in Italian. Valued for its density and fine grain, Calacatta Cielo is a premier choice for high-end countertops, statement walls, and elegant flooring. Interestingly, while it shares the prestigious Calacatta moniker, this stone is a unique geological treasure sourced from the southern regions of China.
This polished marble is Calacatta Cielo, in white with grey, cut at 2 cm and quarried in China. Lot 236-6 measures about 125″ × 72″, with 3 slabs available and 8 on hold at our Los Angeles yard.
This slab
The recorded size of a slab in this lot is 125″ × 72″, about 63 square feet. Thickness is 2 cm. The color on record is white with grey. Natural stone still varies inside that description, so the slab itself is the reference for movement and shade. This material is recorded as quarried in China.
The polished finish is reflective and lets the color read clearly. Two centimeters is a standard slab thickness for counters, vanities, and wall cladding.
In the yard
Lot 236-6 at our Los Angeles yard shows 11 slabs in stock, 8 slabs on hold, and 3 slabs available. Available means in stock minus slabs on hold.
The slabs can be compared in daylight at our Los Angeles yard before anything is cut.
Where it works
For this kind of stone, the usual applications are bathrooms, vanities, fireplace surrounds, and feature walls. The right use still depends on the finish, the thickness, and how the slab will be cared for after it is installed. Inspiration photos show this stone in an Accent Wall.
The material
Marble is a metamorphic stone, recrystallized from limestone, and it is valued for veining and a luminous surface. It is softer and more sensitive to acids than granite or quartzite, so wine, citrus, and strong cleaners can etch a polish. That is why it is a classic for bathrooms, vanities, fireplaces, and walls, and for kitchens when the owner wants the look and will live with a natural patina. A honed face shows etching less than a high polish. Vein direction should be planned on the actual slabs before fabrication.
