Calacatta Vagli is a prestigious white marble extracted from the Vagli di Sotto area in the Apuan Alps of Tuscany, Italy. Known for its sophisticated aesthetic, it features a warm white to milky background characterized by a unique brecciated pattern. This natural stone is distinguished by its defined, oval-shaped clasts and a dynamic mix of grey, gold, and sometimes amber or bronze veining. Its elegant movement makes it a favorite for high-end interior applications, including book-matched feature walls, flooring, and luxury countertops. Interestingly, the "brecciated" appearance—looking like fragmented stone frozen in time—is a result of intense geological tectonic activity that crushed and then naturally recemented the rock millions of years ago.
This is a new arrival of Calacatta Vagli at our Los Angeles yard.
On hand at our Los Angeles yard: 21 slabs of Calacatta Vagli, a 2 cm white marble from Italy in a honed finish. Lot TTS250309 runs from 115″ × 62″ to 115″ × 70″.
This slab
The recorded size of a slab in this lot is 115″ × 67″, about 54 square feet. Sizes across the lot run from 115″ × 62″ to 115″ × 70″. Thickness is 2 cm. The color on record is white. Natural stone still varies inside that description, so the slab itself is the reference for movement and shade. This material is recorded as quarried in Italy.
The honed finish is smooth and matte, without a high gloss. Two centimeters is a standard slab thickness for counters, vanities, and wall cladding.
In the yard
Lot TTS250309 at our Los Angeles yard shows 21 slabs in stock, none on hold, and 21 slabs available. Available means in stock minus slabs on hold.
The slabs can be compared in daylight at our Los Angeles yard before anything is cut.
Where it works
For this kind of stone, the usual applications are bathrooms, vanities, fireplace surrounds, and feature walls. The right use still depends on the finish, the thickness, and how the slab will be cared for after it is installed. Inspiration photos show this stone in a Bathroom and a Fireplace.
The material
Marble is a metamorphic stone, recrystallized from limestone, and it is valued for veining and a luminous surface. It is softer and more sensitive to acids than granite or quartzite, so wine, citrus, and strong cleaners can etch a polish. That is why it is a classic for bathrooms, vanities, fireplaces, and walls, and for kitchens when the owner wants the look and will live with a natural patina. A honed face shows etching less than a high polish. Vein direction should be planned on the actual slabs before fabrication.
