Quartz Hematoid

In Quartz Hematoid, iron-red streaks run through milky and clear crystal, giving this semi-precious slab a warm palette of red, white and smoky violet. The quartz is translucent, and when backlit it turns copper and amber with darker pieces in silhouette. A Giant variant uses larger pieces for a more open pattern.

About Quartz Hematoid

Hematoid quartz is crystal quartz colored by inclusions of hematite, an iron oxide, which explains the rust and brick-red flames running through each piece. In this slab the reddish streaks sit inside frosted white crystal, with occasional gray-violet strands. The pieces are assembled by hand; in the standard version they are small and densely packed, while the Giant variant shows broader, paler crystals with fine pink-red lines.

Translucency makes it a natural candidate for backlit work, and both versions can be lit from behind. Typical applications include illuminated bar fronts, feature walls, island panels and lobby counters. The 2 cm standard can be varied between 0.6 and 4 cm, and panels are cut to the size each project needs, up to 320 x 190 cm. Maintenance calls for nothing more than mild detergent, water and a soft cloth.
