Calcite Orange

Orange calcite grows in layers, and those layers show as soft parallel stripes inside each fragment. Every piece is broken to an irregular outline and hand-set with a gold-colored inlay along its joints, so under ordinary room light the pattern looks like a crazed mosaic with a fine metallic outline. With a light source behind it, the stripes deepen into honey and saffron.

Because the stone is soft and etches on contact with acids, the slab belongs where it will not meet cooking spills or abrasive scrubbing: backlit walls, bar fronts, reception desks and decorative furniture. Water and a neutral cleaner are all it needs. Standard thickness is 2 cm, with 0.6 to 4 cm possible, and custom pieces reach 320 x 190 cm.
